It turned out that I was not able to configure my VC500 with the provided software (ez grabber). It's not straightforward but works very well. I was using VLC simply to see if I was getting an output as I was unable to capture using VirtualDub. Another option if you have VLC installed you can open the video stream from your grabber and encode it directly to a file. Upload captured video directly to YouTube at the press of a button.
